Being a first time mom, I was overwhelmed with the stuff I thought I had to have for the nursery. I had a budget, of course, and the chair was one of the lower priced items that I got. Looking back, I would totally go for something different, but oh well, it’s worked! I purchased this chair from Walmart and loved it at first! Then…the wear… I totally do not recommend getting something with white fabric…at least not this white fabric. So, I decided to “redo”! First, I removed the previous fabric and used it as the pattern for the Continue reading

Now, as a Yooper, I may be a little biased when I say this…but we definitely have the best beaches in the state of Michigan! There’s a contest going on sponsored by Pure Michigan. I sure hope I can get to the beach this weekend (should be 80 on Saturday, compared to 55 today!). Sorry that I’m posting this in the middle of the contest, but at least you still have some time! June 20 – Favorite Beach to Catch a Sunrise or Sunset June 21 – Favorite Dog-Friendly Beach June 22 – Favorite State Park Beach June 23 – Continue reading
So… I have had plans to post for the last three days. Things keep coming up! I wanted to post the finished product with the follow freebies, but I learned a very valuable lesson. Cheap spray paint is cheap for a reason. I haven’t had a chance to go back to the store yet to buy new paint (and hope to still use the frames)… But, I am working on a set of four prints for my boys’ room. They will be the ABCs and 123s and then the other two will be something else… haven’t quite figured it out. Continue reading
When the boys were born, well, we didn’t know they were boys yet. It was actually a surprise at the 20 week ultrasound to find out we were having two babies. My husband and I had already decided we didn’t want to know the sex of the baby so we weren’t going to find out for either baby! So that left us with very few choices for the dark brown room. Here are some photos from the showing: We didn’t know if it would be two boys, two girls, or one of each. That left us with few options Continue reading
Had a chance to stop by a few garage sales this weekend and came across a HUGE $2 bulletin board! I was so excited about the find and had so many ideas running through my head! Do I do a fabric cover? Do I paint the frame and leave it be? What if there are a bunch of issues under the fabric? I figured it was worth the risk at $2 and I was not disappointed. To start with, I did a quick google search for DIY cork board. Found this really cool tutorial on how to make it a chalkboard Continue reading
Ever feel like you’re working on a ton of things and nothing is getting done?! That’s how I feel right now! Got a few projects that just need some time dedicated to get off the to-do list. Here’s the list: Finish the kitchen island (cabinet transformation project) Clean out the closet upstairs Paint the closet doors upstairs Finish raking the sand for the outdoor project (that’s the first hint at what it is!!) Upcoming projects: Paint the kiddo’s bedroom Bulletin board transformation project Growing “ruler” (super popular on pinterest!) Chalkboard project What’s on your agenda this weekend?
Well…not quite done with the cabinet project. Maybe it was a bigger project than intended? Maybe I didn’t realize how big my kitchen was? Maybe the wait times were longer than I thought because of the time I could spend on it? But… really… I think it was worth it. I think the end result will be worth it. Overall, I am really happy with the results. I am really glad I chose the Chocolate color and not something darker as it matches the backsplash almost PERFECTLY! I think it’s interesting to do this review since my cabinets were previously Continue reading
So busy! With the graduation stuff last weekend and the outdoor project from this week almost complete, I decided I needed to squeeze in another MAJOR project this weekend – in the kitchen! Well, it won’t be finished this weekend as there is a lot of wait time between steps, but it will be the primary focus. I actually started the prep work yesterday. My cousin spotted me at the store last night buying the last needed items and was asking me what the project was… well… we’re using a Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation Kit! Long story short… we moved into our house Continue reading
I had four days off this weekend but I spent every single minute doing something so I feel like I need a vacation! My brother finished high school this year and as the awesome sisters we are…. we threw his graduation party! We hosted the party at the fellowship hall at our church (my sister and I had our graduation parties there some time ago…. we won’t say how many years!) Unfortunately, since our parties, the walls have been painted like a pale pinkish color…. so we had to make it extra special to make sure the green, white, and Continue reading
